v0.7.2 Collectable coins and star ratings for challenge levels


These are the Endless Thief v0.7.2 changes:

  1. Each challenge level has collectible coins and a star rating based on the total % of collected coins.
  2. Challenge levels can be re-played to pick up previously missed coins for additional gold and a higher star rating on that level.
  3. Added a narrator to the 3rd challenge level to remind players about the distraction skill.
  4. When finishing the demo, purchased character skills are retained on "Continue". The game difficulty will go up for higher skilled characters.
  5. Removed the "Collect 70% gold" from the bonus objectives. This objective is not balanced with other bonus objectives.
  6. Access to the challenge selection screen from the Thieves Guild, useful for improving challenge star ratings.

Inspired by Captain Toad, I added collectible coins and star ratings to the challenge levels. These coins are optional for players that want to challenge themselves more than just getting to the exit of a challenge. The player is rewarded with an amount of gold per coin and a star rating.

The game keeps track of star ratings per challenge level and which coins the player has already picked up. When replaying a challenge level, the previously collected coins are marked as done. They still appear in the level as transparent coins, but they offer no reward. This is also inspired by Captain Toad where previously picked up diamonds are also transparent.

Players that finish the demo, can now replay the game with their upgraded character skills. The character skills are kept when replaying the game using the "Continue" button. The "New Game" button will still clear the character skills. Replaying the game with a higher skilled character will make the game more difficult, so it will be a new challenge for players.
